Born on August 15, 1972, in Accrington, Lancashire, Slinger trained at RADA and graduated in 1994. He has performed at prestigious institutions such as the Royal National Theatre, Shakespeare's Globe, and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Slinger has portrayed notable characters in various Shakespeare plays, including Richard II, Fluellen, Richard Duke of York, and Richard III. He also played Bernard Woolley in the stage adaptation of Yes, Prime Minister. In 2011, he took on the title role in a new production of Macbeth by Michael Boyd at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Slinger has also appeared as Malvolio, Prospero, and Hamlet, showcasing his versatility as an actor. He is also recognized for his portrayal of Willy Wonka in the London production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 2015.
