Jorge R. Gutierrez is a Mexican animator, writer, producer, director, and voice actor. He rose to prominence as the co-creator of the Annie and Emmy Award-winning Nicktoon El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera. Gutierrez then went on to write and direct the Annie Award-winning film The Book of Life, which received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Animated Feature Film. His talents extend to virtual reality as well, having written and directed the Annie and Emmy nominated Son of Jaguar VR short for Google. Recently, he wrote and directed the Annie and Emmy Award-winning limited series Maya and the Three for Netflix Animation. Gutierrez's work is deeply influenced by his love for Mexican pop and folk culture, and he has completed various films, cartoons, illustrations, and paintings reflecting this passion.
