Joseph Anthony Campanella (November 21, 1924 – May 16, 2018) was an American character actor known for his extensive work in television and film. With a career spanning from the early 1950s to 2009, Campanella appeared in over 200 roles. Some of his notable television appearances include Joe Turino on Guiding Light (1959-1962), Lew Wickersham on Mannix (1967-1968), Brian Darrell on The Bold Ones: The Lawyers (1969-1972), and Harper Deveraux on Days of Our Lives (1987-1992). He also co-hosted Science International (1976-1979) and narrated the Discover science series on the Disney Channel (1992-1994). Campanella provided the voice for Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard on Spider-Man: The Animated Series (1994-1997). He received nominations for a Daytime Emmy, Primetime Emmy, and Tony Award during his career. Campanella was born in Manhattan, New York City to Sicilian immigrants.
