Josette Simon

Josette Patricia Simon is a British actor known for her versatility and groundbreaking contributions to color-blind casting. She trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London and gained recognition for her role as Dayna Mellanby in the sci-fi series Blake's 7 from 1980 to 1981. Simon has a long-standing association with the Royal Shakespeare Company, appearing in various productions from 1982 to 2018, including memorable performances as Ariel in The Tempest and Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra. Notably, she became the first black woman to feature in an RSC play in 1982 and has consistently challenged traditional casting norms by taking on roles traditionally played by white actors.
