Joshua David Bell is an American violinist and conductor, born on December 9, 1967. He is known for his exceptional talent and mastery of the Gibson Stradivarius violin. Bell was born in Bloomington, Indiana to Shirley Bell, a therapist, and Alan P. Bell, a psychologist and former Kinsey researcher. With a father of Scottish descent and a Jewish mother, Bell came from a diverse background. He began playing the violin at the age of four, and his parents quickly recognized his passion and talent. Bell had a normal Indiana childhood, enjoying sports and excelling in tennis and bowling. Today, he is renowned worldwide for his remarkable contributions to classical music.
