Joy Franz

Joy Franz (born June 13, 1941) is an American actress and singer. She is best known for her stage work, including her roles in Stephen Sondheim's Company and Into the Woods. Franz played Susan in the original 1972 West End production of Company and the role of Cinderella's Stepmother in the original 1987 Broadway production of Into the Woods. She also understudied the role of the Witch in Into the Woods. Franz reprised her role as Cinderella's Stepmother in the 1988-90 US Tour and the 2002 Broadway revival, where she also played Little Red's Granny and understudied Jack's Mother. She has also appeared in other productions such as Guys and Dolls and Leonard Bernstein's Mass.
