Judith Malina Biography
Judith Malina (June 4, 1926 – April 10, 2015) was a German-born American actress, director, and writer. She is best known for co-founding The Living Theatre, a radical political theatre troupe, with her husband Julian Beck. Born in Kiel, Germany, Malina immigrated to New York City with her parents at the age of 3. Her parents, particularly her father who was a rabbi, instilled in her the importance of political theatre in combating the rise of antisemitism and the Nazi regime. Throughout her career, Malina remained committed to using theatre as a platform for social and political change. She passed away in 2015.
