Judy Carline Woodruff (born November 20, 1946) is an American broadcast journalist who has worked in network, cable, and public television news since 1976. She is best known as the anchor and managing editor of the PBS NewsHour. Woodruff has an extensive career covering presidential elections and conventions since 1976. She has also interviewed numerous heads of state and moderated U.S. presidential debates. Woodruff began her career in local television news in Atlanta and later became the White House correspondent for NBC News. She joined PBS in 1982, where she reported on the White House for the PBS NewsHour. Woodruff also hosted programs on CNN before returning to PBS and the NewsHour in 2006.
