Julia Sawalha is an English actress, born on September 9, 1968, in Wandsworth, London. She gained fame for her portrayal of Saffron 'Saffy' Monsoon in the BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous from 1992 to 2012. Sawalha has appeared in various television series including Press Gang (1989-1993), Second Thoughts (1991-1994), Faith in the Future (1995-1998), Pride and Prejudice (1995), Sheeep (2000-2001), Jonathan Creek (2001-2004), and Lark Rise to Candleford (2008-2011). Her film credits include Buddy's Song (1991), The Wind in the Willows (1996), Chicken Run (2000), and Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie (2016). Sawalha is the daughter of actor Nadim Sawalha and Roberta Lane, and she was named after her paternal grandmother.
