Julian Fernando Casablancas (born August 23, 1978) is an American singer, best known as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter of the rock band the Strokes, formed in 1998. He has released six studio albums with the Strokes and a solo studio album, 'Phrazes for the Young,' in 2009. Casablancas also founded the independent record label Cult Records in 2009. In 2013, he became the frontman of the experimental rock band the Voidz, and they have released two studio albums, 'Tyranny' (2014) and 'Virtue' (2018). Born in New York City, Casablancas is the son of American-Spanish businessman John Casablancas and Danish model Jeanette Christiansen.
