Juliana Hatfield (born July 27, 1967) is an American musician and singer-songwriter from the Boston area. She has been a member of various indie rock bands, including Blake Babies, Some Girls, and The Lemonheads. Hatfield gained recognition as the frontwoman of her own band, The Juliana Hatfield Three, which achieved success in the mid-1990s and mid-2010s. Their albums, such as 'Become What You Are' (1993) and 'Whatever, My Love' (2015), received critical acclaim. Hatfield has also pursued a solo career and collaborated with other artists, including Matthew Caws of Nada Surf in the duo Minor Alps. She is known for her cover of Elliott Smith's 'Needle in the Hay,' which was named one of the 20 Best Cover Songs of 2014 by Paste magazine.
