Dame Julia Mary Walters, professionally known as Julie Walters, is an English actress. Born on February 22, 1950, she has received numerous accolades including four British Academy Television Awards, two British Academy Film Awards, two International Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and a Laurence Olivier Award. Walters has been nominated for two Academy Awards, one for Best Actress and one for Best Supporting Actress. She rose to fame for her role in Educating Rita (1983), which she originated in the West End production. Walters has appeared in several other notable films such as Personal Services (1987), Prick Up Your Ears (1987), Buster (1988), Stepping Out (1991), Sister My Sister (1994), Girls' Night (1998), Titanic Town (1998), and Billy Elliot (2000). In 2017, she was honored with the title of Dame by Queen Elizabeth II for her contributions to drama.
