Julie K. White (born June 4, 1961) is an American actress known for her work in both film and television. She gained recognition in the theater world when she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her performance in The Little Dog Laughed in 2007. Throughout her career, White has received three additional Tony Award nominations for her roles in Airline Highway, Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus, and POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive. On the big screen, she is best known for her portrayal of Sam Witwicky's mother in the Transformers film series from 2007 to 2011. On television, White has appeared in various shows including Grace Under Fire, Six Feet Under, Desperate Housewives, Nurse Jackie, and The Good Wife. She has also showcased her talent in films such as Michael Clayton, Lincoln, and A Very Murray Christmas. White was born in San Diego, California, and grew up in a family of a therapist and a dentist.
