June Carter Cash (1929-2003) was an American singer, songwriter, and dancer. She was a member of the Carter Family and the second wife of singer Johnny Cash. June played multiple instruments including guitar, banjo, harmonica, and autoharp. She acted in several films and television shows and won five Grammy Awards throughout her career. Born Valerie June Carter in Maces Spring, Virginia, she began performing with the Carter Family at the age of 10. In 2009, she was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame. June Carter Cash is remembered for her contributions to country music and her enduring partnership with Johnny Cash.
