Kali Hawk (born October 4, 1986) is an American actress, comedian, model, and jewelry designer. She has appeared in several films including Fifty Shades of Black, Couples Retreat, Bridesmaids, and Tyler Perry Presents Peeples. Hawk also had a recurring role as Shelby in the TV show New Girl and co-starred in the first two seasons of the Adult Swim series Black Jesus. She was raised in Manhattan and attended State University of New York at Purchase. Hawk is of African-American, Native American, and German Jewish descent. In addition to her acting career, she has appeared in commercials, music videos, and competed on Last Comic Standing in 2007.
