Kara DioGuardi Biography
Kara Elizabeth DioGuardi, born December 9, 1970, is an American songwriter, record producer, music publisher, A&R executive, and singer. She is known for her work in the pop rock genre and has collaborated with numerous popular artists, contributing to albums that have sold over 160 million copies worldwide. DioGuardi's accolades include the 2011 NAMM Music for Life Award, 2009 NMPA Songwriter Icon Award, and being named the 2007 BMI Pop Songwriter of the Year. She has received 20 BMI Awards for co-writing some of the most performed songs on the radio. In addition, DioGuardi served as a judge on American Idol for seasons eight and nine, and as head judge on the Bravo series Platinum Hit in 2011. She was also appointed as executive vice president of talent development at Warner Bros. Records in 2008, where she signed acts such as Jason Derulo and Iyaz. DioGuardi was born in Ossining, New York, and is of Arbëreshë (Albanian) descent.
