Katarina Witt Biography
Katarina Witt is a German former figure skater, born on December 3, 1965. She is widely regarded as one of the greatest ladies' singles figure skaters of all time. Witt won two Olympic gold medals, one in 1984 at the Sarajevo Olympics and another in 1988 at the Calgary Olympics. She is one of only two skaters to defend a ladies' singles Olympic title. Additionally, Witt is a four-time World Champion and a two-time World silver medalist. She also won six consecutive European Championships, a feat only equalled by Sonja Henie. Witt had a remarkable career, winning ten golds from eleven major international events between 1984 and 1988.
