Kate Vernon, born Katherine Elizabeth Vernon in 1961, is a Canadian-born American actress. She gained recognition for her role as Lorraine Prescott in the CBS primetime soap opera Falcon Crest (1984-1985). Vernon also appeared as Benny Hanson in the comedy film Pretty in Pink (1986) and as Sophia in the 1992 Spike Lee film, Malcolm X. She is well-known for her portrayal of Ellen Tigh in the 2004 Syfy series Battlestar Galactica. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Vernon later moved to Los Angeles with her family. Her notable TV appearances include Family Ties, Dallas, Remington Steele, Hotel, and Murder, She Wrote.
