Kate Wilkinson Biography
Kate Wilkinson (October 25, 1916 – February 9, 1993) was an American stage, film, and television actress. She is best known for her roles as Viola Stapleton in the CBS soap opera Guiding Light (1976-1981) and Clara Hudson on the NBC soap opera Another World (1987-1989). Wilkinson made numerous guest appearances on television and appeared in several films. She had a successful stage career, portraying characters like Mrs. McCollough in Last of Mrs. Lincoln (1972-1973) and Clairee in the original Off-Broadway production of Steel Magnolias (1987). Wilkinson's final role was a guest appearance on Law & Order in 1990. She passed away from bone cancer at the age of 76 in 1993.
