Katharine Ross Biography
Katharine Juliet Ross (born January 29, 1940) is an American actress known for her work in film, stage, and television. Born in Los Angeles, she spent her early years in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ross made her film debut in Shenandoah (1965) and went on to have supporting roles in Mister Buddwing (1965) and The Singing Nun (1966). She gained critical acclaim for her performance as Elaine Robinson in The Graduate (1967), receiving an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, a BAFTA nomination, and a Golden Globe win for New Star of the Year. Ross also appeared in the John Wayne film Hellfighters (1968) and earned further recognition for her roles in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) and The Stepford Wives (1975).
