Katherine Marie Heigl is an American actress, born on November 24, 1978. She gained recognition for her portrayal of Izzie Stevens on the ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy from 2005 to 2010, earning her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2007. Heigl began her career as a child model before transitioning to acting. She made her film debut in That Night (1992) and went on to star in movies like My Father the Hero (1994), Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995), and Bride of Chucky (1998). Heigl also appeared in the TV series Roswell (1999–2002) and had successful romantic comedy roles in Knocked Up (2007), 27 Dresses (2008), The Ugly Truth (2009), Killers (2010), Life As We Know It (2010), and New Year's Eve (2011).
