Born on November 22, 1995, in Kansas City, Missouri, she grew up in Lee's Summit, Missouri, before relocating to Los Angeles, California in 2011. McNamara gained recognition for her portrayal of Clary Fray in the supernatural drama series Shadowhunters from 2016 to 2019, earning her a Teen Choice Award and a People's Choice Award.
