Kathryn Elsbeth Erbe (born July 5, 1965) is an American actress. She rose to prominence for her role as Alexandra Eames on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, a spin-off of Law & Order, and as Shirley Bellinger in the HBO series Oz. Erbe was born in Newton, Massachusetts, and graduated from New York University (NYU) in 1989. She started her career with a role on the sitcom Chicken Soup and later became a member of Steppenwolf Theatre Company, starring in various productions. Erbe has appeared in films such as What About Bob?, Stir of Echoes, and Rich in Love, as well as several independent films.
