Kathryn Joosten (December 20, 1939 – June 2, 2012) was an American actress known for her roles in The West Wing and Desperate Housewives. Born Kathryn Rausch in Chicago, she worked as a psychiatric nurse before pursuing acting at the age of 42. Joosten performed as a street performer at Disney-MGM Studios in Florida in 1992, before moving to Hollywood in 1995. She appeared in various television series including Roseanne, Home Improvement, ER, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Joosten won two Primetime Emmy Awards for her role as Karen McCluskey on Desperate Housewives. She passed away in 2012.
