Keala Joan Settle is an American actress and singer, born on November 5, 1975, in Hawaii. She gained recognition for originating the role of Norma Valverde in the Broadway musical 'Hands on a Hardbody' in 2013, earning nominations for the Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama Desk Award, and Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Settle was also part of the original Broadway cast of 'Waitress' in 2016, playing the role of Becky. In 2017, she portrayed Lettie Lutz, a bearded lady, in the musical film 'The Greatest Showman.' Her powerful rendition of the song 'This Is Me' from the film won the 2017 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. Settle has a diverse ethnic background, with her mother being of Māori descent from New Zealand and her father being British-born.
