Keisha Castle-Hughes (born March 24, 1990) is a New Zealand actress known for her role as Paikea "Pai" Apirana in the film Whale Rider. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress, making her the second youngest person ever nominated in that category, as well as winning the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Young Actor/Actress. Castle-Hughes has appeared in various films including Hey, Hey, It's Esther Blueburger, Piece of My Heart, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, and The Nativity Story. In 2015, she joined the cast of Game of Thrones in Season 5 as Obara Sand. Castle-Hughes was born in Donnybrook, Western Australia, and later moved to Auckland, New Zealand with her family. She attended Penrose High School and graduated in 2008.
