Keith Hernandez Biography
Keith Hernandez is an American former Major League Baseball first baseman, born on October 20, 1953. He played the majority of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets. Hernandez was a five-time All-Star, sharing the 1979 NL MVP award and winning two World Series titles. Known for his contact hitting, he had a career average of .296 and a walk rate of 12.5%. Hernandez's defensive skills were exceptional, earning him 11 consecutive Gold Glove awards, the most by any first baseman. He is regarded as the best defensive first baseman of all time. Since 1998, Hernandez has been a color commentator on the Mets television broadcasts and currently serves as a studio analyst for MLB on Fox since 2017.
