Keith Theodore Olbermann (born January 27, 1959) is an American sports and political commentator and writer. He began his career in sports journalism, working as a correspondent for CNN and various local TV and radio stations in the 1980s. Olbermann gained recognition as a co-host of ESPN's SportsCenter from 1992 to 1997. He later worked as a producer and anchor for Fox Sports Net and hosted Fox Sports' coverage of Major League Baseball. From 2003 to 2011, Olbermann hosted the political commentary program Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC, where he became known for his criticism of American conservative and right-wing figures. Despite being often described as a liberal, Olbermann rejects political labels and identifies as an American.
