Kelly Bishop Biography
Kelly Bishop (born Carole Bishop; February 28, 1944) is an American actress and dancer, known for her roles as matriarch Emily Gilmore on the series Gilmore Girls and as Marjorie Houseman in the film Dirty Dancing. She won a Tony Award for originating the role of Sheila in A Chorus Line. Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1944, Bishop trained as a ballet dancer in Denver before moving to New York City. She began her career as a dancer at Radio City Music Hall and later transitioned to Broadway. Bishop's breakthrough came with her role in Golden Rainbow. Currently, she is starring as Mrs. Ivey in The Watchful Eye (2023).
