Kenneth Bruce Gorelick, known professionally as Kenny G, is an American smooth jazz saxophonist, composer, and producer. Born on June 5, 1956, in Seattle, Washington, Kenny G gained commercial success with his 1986 album Duotones. With global sales of over 75 million records, he is one of the best-selling artists of all time. Kenny G was introduced to the saxophone after hearing a performance on The Ed Sullivan Show and started playing at the age of 10. He attended Whitworth Elementary School, Sharples Junior High School, Franklin High School, and the University of Washington, all in Seattle. In high school, he initially failed to get into the jazz band but later earned first chair.
