Kermit Ruffins (born December 19, 1964) is an American jazz trumpeter, singer, composer, and actor from New Orleans. He began playing trumpet in 8th grade and honed his skills at Lawless Junior High School. Influenced by jazz legends Louis Armstrong and Louis Jordan, Ruffins is known for his bright, silvery tone on the trumpet and his off-the-cuff charm as a vocalist. He often performs New Orleans jazz standards and writes his own compositions. Ruffins is also an accomplished actor and has made appearances in various movies and TV shows. In addition to his musical talents, he developed a passion for cooking, inspired by his grandmother's movements in the kitchen.
