Kevin Robert McNally, also known as Kevin R. McNally, is an English actor and writer. He gained recognition for his role as Joshamee Gibbs in the popular Pirates of the Caribbean film series. McNally was born in Bristol but spent his early years in Birmingham, attending Redhill Junior School and Mapledene Junior School. He began his acting career at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and later received a scholarship to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. McNally's early television appearances include the BBC's I, Claudius in 1976 and the second series of Poldark in 1977. Additionally, he has written episodes for the TV series Minder under the pseudonym Kevin Sperr.
