Kiawentiio

Kiawenti:io Tarbell, known professionally as Kiawentiio, is a Canadian-American actress and singer-songwriter. Born on April 28, 2006, she grew up in Akwesasne, a First Nations reserve spanning the Canada-US border. Kiawentiio gained recognition for her portrayal of Ka'kwet, a Mi'kmaq girl, in the third season of the Canadian TV series Anne with an E. In 2020, she made her film debut in the lead role of Beans. Recently, Kiawentiio was cast as Katara in the upcoming Netflix live-action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender. She was born into a Mohawk family and her first name, meaning 'nice morning' in Kanienʼkéha, reflects her cultural heritage.
