She has appeared as a correspondent on various networks such as USA Network, AMC, Food Network, Current TV, Fox Sports, SyFy, National Geographic Channel, and Travel Channel. Born Kinga Szpakiewicz in Warsaw, Poland, Philipps grew up in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and graduated from Oklahoma State University. In addition to her journalism work, she has made guest appearances on TV shows including The West Wing, Cold Case, According to Jim, Eleventh Hour, NCIS: Los Angeles, Perception, and Scandal.
