Kiran Rao

Kiran Rao is an Indian film producer, screenwriter, and director known for her work in Hindi cinema. She was born on November 7, 1973, in Hyderabad and grew up in Kolkata. Rao co-founded Paani Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting drought in Maharashtra. She is also a board member of the Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image. Rao graduated from Sophia College for Women with a major in food sciences in 1995. She later pursued a master's degree at AJK Mass Communication Research Center at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Kiran Rao is the first cousin of actress Aditi Rao Hydari, and they both come from a royal lineage associated with the Nizam of Hyderabad.
