Kirsten Olesen (born May 10, 1949) is a Danish actress known for her extensive work in the Royal Danish Theatre since 1979. She gained popularity in Denmark for her role as Agnes, a housemaid, in the television series Matador (1978-1982). Internationally, she starred as the title character in Lars von Trier's Medea (1988). Born in Aarhus, Olesen attended the drama school at Odense Teater and completed her studies in 1971. She began her acting career in various theaters in Copenhagen, gaining recognition for her performances in plays such as Summer and Smoke and Struense var her. Kirsten Olesen is widely acclaimed for her versatile acting skills and contributions to Danish theater and television.
