Kobe Bryant (August 23, 1978 – January 26, 2020) was an American professional basketball player. He played as a shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA for his entire 20-year career. Bryant is considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time, with numerous accolades including five NBA championships, 18 All-Star appearances, and two NBA Finals MVP awards. He also won the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in 2008. With a scoring ability that led him to rank fourth in all-time regular season and postseason scoring, Bryant was recognized as one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. Beyond his on-court success, he was posthumously inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020 and named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in 2021.
