Kristine E. Nielsen (born May 28, 1955) is an American actress known for her work on Broadway and Off-Broadway. She received a Tony Award nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Play in 2013 for her role as Sonia in 'Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike', and another nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play in 2019 for her performance in 'Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus'. Nielsen grew up in the Washington, D.C. and Bethesda, Maryland areas. Her parents were Homer Nielsen and Eloise Nielsen. Her father was a U.S. Navy captain and her mother worked in government. Nielsen has Danish ancestry through her paternal grandfather, Harold Nielsen, and her great-grandfather, Lewis Gerard, was an immigrant.
