Kristy Swanson, born on December 19, 1969, is an American actress best known for her role as Buffy Summers in the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She first gained attention for her starring role in Wes Craven's horror film Deadly Friend in 1986 and went on to portray Catherine 'Cathy' Dollanganger in the film adaptation of V.C. Andrews's Flowers in the Attic in 1987. Swanson has appeared in a variety of films, including Hot Shots! (1991), The Chase (1994), Big Daddy (1999), and Dude, Where's My Car? (2000). She was born and raised in Mission Viejo, California, and expressed interest in acting at a young age.
