Kurt Loder (born May 5, 1945) is an American entertainment critic, author, columnist, and television personality. He is best known for his role at MTV News since the 1980s and for appearing in other MTV-related television specials. Loder served as editor at Rolling Stone during the 1980s, with his tenure being considered 'legendary' by Reason. He has contributed to articles in Reason, Esquire, Details, New York, and Time. Loder has also made cameos in several films and television series. Additionally, he has hosted the SiriusXM radio show True Stories since 2016. Born in Miami, Florida, Loder lived in Peru before settling in Ocean City, New Jersey. He graduated from Ocean City High School and attended college at Oklahoma City University and Temple University. Loder joined the United States Army and graduated from its journalism school.
