Kyan Douglas (born Hugh Edward Douglas Jr.; May 5, 1970) is an American television personality and stylist. He gained prominence as the grooming expert on the American television program Queer Eye from 2003 to 2007. Born in Miami, Florida, Kyan was raised in Tampa and Tallahassee. He has a sister, Kelli, who first taught him about styling hair. After high school, he moved to Dallas to study philosophy at Brookhaven College. Later, he relocated to Austin with plans to pursue acting but was hindered by extreme shyness. In his mid-twenties, he moved to New Orleans and earned a degree in TV production and theater studies at Loyola University. Douglas' decision to leave New Orleans was motivated by the tragic loss of three close friends in a restaurant robbery.
