Kyle Martin Chandler (born September 17, 1965) is an American actor known for his versatile roles in film and television. He made his screen acting debut in the 1988 television film Quiet Victory: The Charlie Wedemeyer Story. Chandler gained recognition for his first regular television role as a Vietnam War veteran in the ABC drama Homefront (1991–93). He then went on to play the lead role of Gary Hobson in the CBS series Early Edition (1996–2000), winning a Saturn Award for Best Actor on Television. Chandler has also appeared in the sitcom What About Joan? (2001) and the legal drama The Lyon's Den (2003), along with a memorable guest appearance on Grey's Anatomy. However, he received widespread critical acclaim for his portrayal of Eric Taylor in the critically acclaimed series Friday Night Lights (2006–11), earning him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2011.
