L. Scott Caldwell, born Laverne Scott, is an American actress known for her roles in The Fugitive (1993) and Lost. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she grew up in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side. Caldwell developed an interest in acting while attending Hyde Park High School and joined the drama club. After seeing a performance by black actors from The Negro Ensemble Company, she was inspired to pursue a career in acting. She attended Northwestern University briefly before working as a telephone operator. Caldwell's acting career took off in the 1980s, and she has since appeared in numerous movies and TV shows, showcasing her talent and versatility.
