Lane Smith Biography
Lane Smith (April 29, 1936 – June 13, 2005) was an American actor known for his roles in various TV shows and films. He portrayed Perry White, the newspaper editor, in the ABC series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. He also appeared as Walter Warner in Son in Law, Nathan Bates in the NBC series V, Mayor Bates in Red Dawn, Coach Jack Reilly in The Mighty Ducks, and district attorney Jim Trotter III in My Cousin Vinny. Additionally, Smith received a Golden Globe award nomination for his portrayal of U.S. President Richard Nixon in The Final Days. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee and studied at the Actors Studio, along with Dustin Hoffman and Al Pacino.
