Larry Joe Bird, born December 7, 1956, is an American former professional basketball player, coach, and executive in the NBA. Known as 'the Hick from French Lick' and 'Larry Legend', Bird is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He holds the distinction of being the only person in NBA history to have been named Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, Finals MVP, All-Star MVP, Coach of the Year, and Executive of the Year. Bird grew up in French Lick, Indiana, where he displayed exceptional basketball talent. He played college basketball for Indiana State University and was drafted by the Boston Celtics in 1978.
