Larry Charles (born 1956) is an American comedian, screenwriter, director, actor, and producer. He gained recognition as a staff writer for the sitcom Seinfeld during its first five seasons. Charles has directed notable films such as Religulous, Borat, Brüno, and The Dictator, showcasing his unique comedic style. In 2019, his Netflix documentary series Larry Charles' Dangerous World of Comedy premiered. Raised in a Jewish family in Brooklyn, New York, Charles attended Rutgers University before pursuing a career in comedy. He began his television writing career on the sketch comedy show Fridays and later worked on The Arsenio Hall Show. With his collaboration with Larry David, Charles went on to make significant contributions to the success of Seinfeld.
