She started her career in off-Broadway productions before transitioning to supporting roles on the small and big screen. Richardson has appeared in notable films such as Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), Malcolm X (1992), Sleepless in Seattle (1993), and Losing Isaiah (1995), among others.
