Lauren Holly (born October 28, 1963) is an American-Canadian actress known for her roles in various television shows and movies. She gained recognition for her portrayal of Deputy Sheriff Maxine Stewart in the series Picket Fences and as NCIS Director Jenny Shepard in NCIS. Holly has also appeared in other notable projects such as Motive, Dumb and Dumber, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Beautiful Girls, and What Women Want. Born in Bristol, Pennsylvania, Holly grew up with a mother who is an art historian and a father who was a screenwriter and literature professor. She attended Sarah Lawrence College in New York and began her acting career at the age of 20 with appearances in Hill Street Blues.
