Leonard Simon Nimoy (March 26, 1931 – February 27, 2015) was an American actor known for his iconic portrayal of Spock in the Star Trek franchise. He first brought the character to life in the original Star Trek series in 1966 and continued to play the role in Star Trek: The Animated Series, the first six Star Trek films, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Nimoy also directed films such as Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), and appeared in various other films, television shows, and video games. Apart from acting, Nimoy had talents in directing, photography, writing, singing, and songwriting.
