Leon Louis 'Lew' Palter (November 3, 1928 – May 21, 2023) was an American actor best known for his role as Isidor Straus in the 1997 film Titanic. Born in Brooklyn, New York City, Palter earned a PhD in theater from Northwestern University after studying at Tufts University and Alfred University. He appeared in New York productions such as The Madwoman of Chaillot and An Enemy of the People, as well as directing Off-Broadway plays. Palter made his screen debut in 1967 on the television series Run for Your Life and went on to guest-star in various shows, including The A-Team, Charlie's Angels, and Columbo.
